Isn’t it funny that from the moment you’re born, you're told what to do

Be anything you want to be and do anything you want to do as long as you do it a certain way. As long as you're never too loud or too crazy, too you.

Our generation has made us grow up to think that we’ve failed if we don't have a job that pays well enough to support a lifestyle that we’re not even sure we really want.

We’re made to think that if we own more things we’ll be happier. If we have more friends and we'll be well respected and if we find someone to complete us we’ll never feel alone.

That's terrible fucking advice.

Society tells you to
Fit your stereotype.
Stay in your lane.
Follow the rules.
Don’t ask questions.
Finish school.
Get a job.
Find someone to love you.
Get married.
Buy a house you can’t afford.
Start a family.
Buy more stuff.
But then what?

Over the years, we’ve just been conditioned us to be a certain way, act a certain way and look a certain way. All by a certain age.

Its society that creates the rules for us, but rules are meant to be broken.

Now what if instead it said
If it makes you happy, do it.
Be curious and ask questions.
Stop looking for someone to try and complete you, you’re already complete.
Take only what you need and give where you can .
Love people not things because the opposite never works.
And never, ever settle.

If your life was a novel and it had 78 chapters, 944 pages, 4103 sentences and 28,725 words what kind of story would you want to be telling?

78 years is the average human lifespan. That's 944 months, 4103 weeks, 28,725 days. That’s all the time you’re given to go out and create the moments that will tell your story.

But here’s the thing, you can't skip chapters because that's not how novels or life works.

You have to read every line and meet every character.
You won't enjoy all of it. Some chapters will make you cry for days,
While others will make you smile for weeks.
You will read things you don't want to read, you will have moments when you don't want pages to end.
But you have to keep going till you reach the end.
What you do with that time is entirely up to you.

So use it to create moments that make will make the story worth telling, it’s time you became the author.

There will be a few times in your life when all your instincts tell you to do something that defies logic, upsets your story line and may seem crazy to other people.

When that happens, do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications and just go for it.

So if they call you crazy or see you as a misfit. If they label you a rebel without a cause or tell you you're a  troublemaker, then good, stay that way. Because to call us crazy isn't an insult, it's a compliment.

So here's to the ones who aren't afraid to step out of line and swerve into the other lane. The ones who aren’t afraid to break the rules. The ones who see things differently and question everything. The ones who live on their own terms. The ones who keep rewriting their own stories. Because the beauty of your story is it’s written by you.

And the beauty in life is that you don’t need to experience it the way you’ve been shown how too. So keep searching, keeping looking for new ways to experience new things. Keep re-writing your story day after day, page after page.

Everyone has a story to tell, so what’s yours?
